Clients in Scottsdale, Arizona, asked Desert Foothills Landscape’s designer, Jake Plocher, if he could transform a dismal and tired look to an over-the-top resort-style setting. The homeowners are from the east coast and expressed difficulty transitioning from harsh wet winters and tropical summers to dry and hot heat. They wanted the company to combine the lush feel of the tropics with the rather difficult climate of the desert.

  1. The new look starts at the driveway corner and is designed to keep all eyes on the new plants as they drive up to the home.
  2. The design infuses large boulders and giant cacti in certain strategic locations, allowing for maximum value and enjoyment.
  3. A few sections of the pool perimeter walls were demolished and safety glass was installed, inviting the desert to visibly be drawn in and create a tropical oasis atmosphere.
