With all of the apps out on the market, landscapers are using their smartphones to be smarter on the job. Here are some of the apps Lawn & Landscape readers are using and why they like them.

Invoice2go

This app designed for small businesses can create customized invoices, track expenses and receive payments. There are four plans, starting at less than $2 per month.

“I like that it’s easy to create an invoice or estimate right there on the spot on your phone – lots of features like payment options, payment reminders, etc. (It) keeps track of everything, and it’s not that expensive for one year,” says Stephane Poirier, owner of Peartree Property Services.

Measure Map Pro

Kathleen’s Lawn & Ornamental Pest Control likes Measure Map Pro for measuring on the go. This app works with a Google Maps to calculate the size of properties. The free version allows you to use six different pins and the Pro version allows for many sizes and colors, as well as position tracking. Video tutorials are available on the company’s website.

Harvest

Harvest tracks time so that users can see how your projects are progressing in real time. It can create and send invoices, accept payments, track expenses and connect to other apps. There are three plans starting for free and going up to $12 per month.

“It’s a good app for calculating mulch, fill dirt and what have you,” says Scott Lippert, owner of Scott’s Lawncare.

Measure Your Land

Nathan Hamilton, owner of Nate’s Lawn Care, uses Measure Your Land, an app that helps measure the size of properties. The app allows you to set pinpoints on a map to calculate the size of a client’s home or commercial property, and then create routes.
