After being abandoned by her landscaper, a client’s call to Davis Landscape set Ryan Longenecker and his team up for a challenge. After some back and forth, Longenecker was able to restore his client’s neglected yard space into a clean and relaxing outdoor gathering place. The goal was to provide a simple laid-back area for the owners to enjoy with their two dogs when their busy schedules allow them both to be home.

Before the project

Challenges:

(1) Plan finalization and color selection were difficult due to the customers limited time availability. Saturation from extreme runoff on the grill island side of the project was rectified by plumbing two downspouts into a large sump area.

(2) Coordinating the utility company’s subcontractor to remove trees in close proximity to high voltage lines was difficult, but Davis Landscape managed to make the contacts and stay on schedule.

(3) The grill island is a key feature made better because the clients had no problem spending on a great brand of appliance. “Most people try to skimp on inexpensive and poorly made brands of grills and other appliances,” Longenecker says. The area features a grill, refrigerator and kegerator for their home-brewed beer.
